Packing list for Andorra, travel insurance for Andorra and taking your belongings
What to take to Andorra: brief
To pack and check:
- Documents and money: a valid passport with at least 3 months validity after your departure date.
- Money: the currency is the euro. Cash withdrawals and card payments are generally easy, some cash for small expenses is always useful. Bear in mind that Andorra is not part of the EU, so customs regulations may apply when returning to France or Spain, for example, for alcohol, tobacco, and certain other goods.
- Clothing: clothing suitable for the season and altitude. In summer, lightweight clothing, layers, and a light rain jacket are useful. In winter, you need warm, waterproof clothing, especially if you are going skiing or snowboarding. Think of a good winter jacket, thermal clothing, a fleece or wool layer, warm socks, gloves, a hat, and a buff or scarf. Even in summer, a warm layer is advisable for the mountains.
- Shoes: comfortable shoes or sneakers for towns and accommodation. Sturdy hiking shoes with good grip are recommended for walks. If you are visiting Andorra in winter, bring warm, waterproof shoes. For skiing or snowboarding, you will of course need suitable ski boots or snowboard boots.
- Care and hygiene: high-SPF sunscreen and lip balm with SPF.
- Packing and protection: a good rain cover for your backpack or daypack and, when needed for hiking, a dry bag or waterproof pouches for your phone, passport, and electronics.
- Insects and animals: a small bottle of insect repellent and a tick remover if you are going hiking in summer.
- Medicines and travel first-aid kit: enough personal medication and a small first-aid kit, or a larger one if you are going hiking.
- Outdoors and handy items: sunglasses, a sun hat or cap, a reusable water bottle, and a small daypack. Hiking poles and a good headlamp may also be useful for walks.
- Technology and equipment: a power bank is useful for long hikes or days spent in the mountains.
To consider:
- A water filter if you are heading into the mountains independently or camping.
- A headlamp, including for hikes that finish later than planned.
- Binoculars for spotting birds and other wildlife.
- Offline hiking maps and routes, especially if you are heading into the mountains.
- A small blanket or sitting mat for picnics and rest breaks.
