Developmental sociology examines social change as a process rather than as a finished outcome. It looks at how societies are reorganized through economic development, state policy, migration, industrialization, urban growth, globalization, and changing cultural expectations.
The field contains several overlapping areas of study. Each focuses on a different part of the relationship between social change, institutions, and everyday life.
