Anton de Kom Universiteit van Suriname

De Anton de Kom Universiteit van Suriname (AdeKUS) opende haar deuren in november 1968. Sinds 1983 draagt de Universiteit de naam van de antikoloniale verzetsstrijder Anton de Kom. Hij is vermoord door de Nazi’s toen hij verbannen was naar Nederland. Deze universiteit is de enige publieke universiteit van Suriname.

De universiteit heeft diverse faculteiten voor bachelor- en masteropleidingen, namelijk:

Juridische Wetenschappen
Maatschappijwetenschappen
Medische Wetenschappen
Technologische Wetenschappen
Wis- en Natuurkundige Wetenschappen

De campus van de Anton de Kom Universiteit ligt in het zuidwesten van Paramaribo. De universiteitsbibliotheek ligt ook op de campus, alleen de Medische Faculteit staat naast het Academische Ziekenhuis op een andere locatie.

De Universiteit heeft meerdere faciliteiten voor haar studenten. De instituten en diensten van de Universiteit zijn: de Universiteitsbibliotheek, het Universiteits Computer Centrum, het Institute for Development Planning and Management, het Instituut voor Kwaliteitszorg en Informatie Management, het Nationaal Herbarium en de Nationale Zoölogische Collectie.
