Sungai Watch Indonesia

Sungai Watch is on a mission to protect and restore Indonesian rivers by developing and designing simple technologies to stop the flow of plastic pollution from going into the ocean. At several locations on the islands Bali and Java they have deployed river barriers to stop trash from entering the ocean. The collected trash is recycled in their own collection centers. During cleanups and school visits they try to get the local community involved in stopping the plastic flood of Indonesia.

Sungai Watch operates mostly with international funding and sponsorships. More than 150 local staff members, called 'river warriors' are empowered by their paid jobs in waste collection and recycling. Local and international volunteers are encouraged to join on weekly cleanups.
