Activiteiten: Stichting Vrienden van het Khongdistrict helpt mensen in Laos om zelf hun levensomstandigheden te verbeteren. Meer onderwijs, betere gezondheidszorg en een basisinkomen voor iedereen vergroten de mogelijkheden voor de lokale bevolking om zichzelf te ontwikkelen.
Status: Het lijkt erop dat Help Laos (Stichting Vrienden van het Khongdistrict) sinds maart 2020 niet langer actief is.

Projecten

In samenwerking met de Khongdistrict Community Development Association (KCDA), het comité van lokale bewoners, worden diverse projecten ondersteund, zoals:

ondersteuning van een landbouw- en veeteeltproject dat voor een basisinkomen moet zorgen, o.a. rijstbank en weefcoöperatie
voorlichting rondom hygiëne, o.a. gebruik van water en training en begeleiding bij het plaatsen van toiletten
productie van waterfilters en biogas
inkomstengenerende activiteiten door de ontwikkeling van ecotoerisme
stimuleren van lezen voor je plezier bij kinderen
bouw en inrichting van klaslokalen, lesmateriaal

Competentie ontwikkeling

Niet alleen zijn de projecten gebaseerd op eigen inbreng van de bevolking, de stichting zoekt het ook nadrukkelijk in ‘empowerment’: het ontwikkelen van competenties en vaardigheden bij lokale mensen is minstens zo belangrijk als het concrete resultaat van een project.
