What to take to Cyprus: brief

To pack and check

• Documents and money: a passport or identity card that is valid during your stay if you're an EU citizen. For other citizens, make sure your passport is valid for at least six months. You can pay by debit card and card everywhere, but a little cash is useful for small villages, local markets and beach bars. An international driving license if you want to rent a car.
• Clothing: light clothing for warm, dry summers. If you travel in the spring, autumn or winter, take a sweater or a light wind-resistant jacket with you. It can be a lot cooler in the Troodos Mountains than on the coast. Also useful clothing that covers shoulders and knees for churches and monasteries.
• Shoes: comfortable walking shoes for important visits, nature reserves and mountain walks. Slippers or sandals are nice for the beach and the boulevard.
• Pack and protect: a daypack for outings and a light rain cover for outdoor summer travel. Heavy rain showers can occur during the winter months.
• Care and hygiene: sunscreen with a high protection factor. The Mediterranean zone is stronger than many travelers expect, especially from May to October.
• Medicines and travel pharmacy: a small medical kit with plasters, blister plasters, ORS, painkillers and any personal medication.
• Insects and animals: a set of mosquito repellents (preferably with DEET), for summer stays or overnight stays close to reservoirs, nature reserves or the coast.
• Outdoor and useful: sunglasses, reusable (large) water bottles and a hat or cap to protect against the sun.
• Technology and equipment: Cyprus used British sockets (type G). So don't forget to bring a power adapter.

• Anti-mosquito products are easily available at pharmacies, drugstores and supermarkets.
• Not only products with DEET, but also alternatives with, for example, picaridin are easily available.
• When you go camping or walk a lot in nature reserves, it is useful to always have a bottle with you.
