Greenpeace

Greenpeace is an international environmental organization committed to clean energy, the protection of forests and biodiversity, ocean conservation, clean production processes, and sustainable agriculture. Greenpeace achieves its goals through research, lobbying, and non-violent direct action. There are various opportunities to contribute to these efforts.

When consultation and lobbying do not lead to change, Greenpeace takes action. Through peaceful but radical actions, activists pressure companies and governments to take Greenpeace’s demands seriously. These actions also help raise public awareness about environmental issues.

Greenpeace has offices all over the world and carries out campaigns internationally. National offices support global actions financially and with staff, creating a highly international working environment.

Most opportunities for personal development within Greenpeace can be found through volunteer roles. Greenpeace has a large volunteer network involved in actions ranging from writing letters to chaining themselves to railway tracks or joining Greenpeace ships at sea.

Volunteers are an essential part of Greenpeace. In the Netherlands alone, the organization has more than 2,000 active volunteers. All volunteers are connected through an online community called Green Wire, where actions are planned, ideas are exchanged, and calls for participation are shared. As a volunteer, you can join Greenpeace actions, start your own action group, or sail on a Greenpeace ship.
