ORPHANAGE NEEDS HELP

Decided to share this message here, even though I am in the middle of my exams, but it is urgent that as many people possible hear about this since they are running out of time:

Today I have heard that the Zimbabwean government will close the boysorphanage I volunteerd for this summer unless they earn 3355 dollars in 31 days. If they don't all the kids will end up on the streets again and they will lose their chances for a better life. I am going to try to get in touch with the other volunteers I have met this summer to see if we can do something. To everybody who reads this, please even if you just donate a little amount it will help or SHARE THIS LINK https://www.onepercentclub.com/en/#!/projects/3-months-30-children-and-a-new-orphanage ON FACEBOOK, and help saving this orphange, the only one in the aria of Gweru. This is written on the website of the boysorphanage:

Imagine that your parents throw you out of the house because they think you are sick and they are no longer able to look after you. Imagine that you find yourself waking up one day on a street corner. You can see that some older boys have put together a few card boxes around you to protect you from the rain. By the looks of strangers passing by, you realize that this has now become your life. Imagine that you are only four years old….

Imagine that you one day are offered a place at the local orphanage. Imagine that you don’t really want to go, because you are scared – scared of what they will do to you. Imagine that the older boys are encouraging you and following you to the home. At the orphanage you get a warm bed, daily meals and adults who look after you. You get the opportunity to start school and you start to believe that people also can be good. You start to feel safe, and you start to feel loved again, and you are starting to feel that you have got a new family. You have been given a chance to create a better future for yourself.

This April, we got some devastating news about the boys’ orphanage. We were told that the home is forced to close down because the building does not meet the standards set by Zimbabwean law. This came as shocking news to us all, as this is the only orphanage for street children in the area. The 30 boys who are living here might share 14 beds, and they might not have enough space to play around. But, they do have a roof over their head, daily meals and a place to call home, with people that they can call their family. The situation right now is that these children might end up in the streets again, back to the life they have worked so hard to get away from. Just because they have nowhere else to go.
