AAP - Animal Advocacy and Protection

AAP Foundation is a European rescue centre for exotic mammals, particularly primates. The foundation is primarily focused on the rescue and rehoming of animals. In addition, AAP Foundation works on prevention, public awareness & education, and organizes campaigns.

AAP Foundation rescues animals that come from sources such as seizures from the illegal trade, research laboratories, circuses, and private owners. Upon arrival, the animals undergo medical examinations and receive the necessary care at AAP's rescue centre.

Once the rescued animals are healthy again, rehoming is arranged. To achieve this, the foundation maintains a network of zoos. For primates that are difficult or impossible to rehome due to their past, AAP has a permanent sanctuary in Spain.

Talent ontwikkelen

Stichting AAP heeft uitgebreide mogelijkheden om jezelf te ontwikkelen. Vooral op het gebied van stage en vrijwilligerswerk hebben ze veel opties, maar ook veel gegadigden.

Opleidingsmogelijkheden
Opleiding is een belangrijk aspect van het personeelsbeleid van Stichting AAP. Elk jaar stelt de stichting een budget beschikbaar voor de opleiding van medewerkers. Er zijn regelmatig mogelijkheden voor medewerkers om opleidingen en cursussen te volgen en mee te doen aan (internationale) uitwisselingsprogramma’s.

Stagemogelijkheden
Stichting AAP heeft elk jaar meerdere stageplaatsen beschikbaar. Er zijn stages mogelijk op alle niveau’s; MBO, HBO of WO. MBO-leerlingen lopen stage op de dierenverzorgingsafdelingen voor een periode van tenminste vijf weken.

HBO studenten met een relevante opleiding zoals biologie, dierenhouderij of dierenmanagement kunnen ook hun afstudeerstage lopen bij AAP. Elk jaar worden er verschillende onderwerpen aangeboden waar stagiaires mee aan de slag kunnen.

WO studenten kunnen observationeel onderzoek doen ten behoeve van het verbeteren van het welzijn van opvangdieren. Op deze manier kunnen studenten invulling geven aan hun afstudeerstages en scriptie-opdrachten. De onderwerpen waarvoor dat kan worden op de site gepubliceerd.

Vrijwilligersmogelijkheden
Er werken ruim 100 vrijwilligers bij Stichting AAP. De meeste vrijwilligers zijn actief in de Dierenverzorging, maar er zijn ook mogelijkheden binnen de Technische Dienst, Fondsenwerving, Rondleidingen en voor administratieve werkzaamheden. Vrijwilligerswerk gebeurt op projectbasis.
