Digital Cleanup Day 2026
Digital Cleanup Day is a day dedicated to cleaning up our digital lives, just like we clean up our physical environment on World Cleanup Day. Digital Cleanup Day 2026 will be on March 14. Cut down your CO2 output by:
- Removing useless pictures on your devices: unsharp, superfluous or the funny pictures your friends and family have been sharing
- Cleaning up files stored in the cloud that are out of use: draft versions, old user manuals or just files you once downloaded
- Cleanup your mailbox: the easy bits are old newsletters and other commercial nonsense, the harder part is combing through more personal emails for duplicates and useless attachments
After cleaning up, your digital footprint will be smaller, your devices run faster, and it will be easier to find stuff when the total pile of data has become smaller.
Take Digital Cleanup Day to work: many organizations will have nearly unlimited numbers of old files that no one dares to throw away and cloud service providers have no incentive to point out all that useless information in their server warehouses.
