Food Charity - Empty Bowls Luncheon at Corning Incorporated HQ

What does this charity do?

The annual Empty Bowls Luncheon at the Corning Incorporated Headquarters is a fundraising event to raise awareness and funds for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. This year's luncheon will be held in December, date TBD.

For a donation of $25, you can enjoy a lunch of soup, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage, and leave with a handmade pottery bowl generously donated from 171 Cedar Arts Center and the Ithaca Clay School.

This event benefits those in our community who often don’t have enough to eat. Each ticket sold will provide 75 meals to our neighbors in need.

It's our mission to  work together to build and sustain hunger-free communities throughout the Southern Tier.

World Food Day 2018

World Food Day

World Food Day 2018 will mark the 73rd anniversary of FAO’s founding. Events organized by FAO country offices, governments, local authorities and other partners in over 130 countries across the world will call for increased action to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030.

The official World Food Day (WFD) ceremony on 16 October at FAO headquarters will be an opportunity for leaders and key global players in the drive to achieve Zero Hunger, to remind the world that Zero Hunger is still possible if we can come together and take account of lessons learned, best practices and all evidence available.
