Het Vista Project

 

This international NGO supports the social, economic, and cultural interests of Tibetans living near Sershul (at an altitude of 4,200 meters in eastern Tibet, about 1,000 km from Chengdu). More than 75% of young people are uneducated and often live in very harsh conditions. Through various training programs, the organization helps improve their opportunities within society. Tours and accommodation can also be booked through the Vista Project.

Volunteer opportunities vary and often include:

  • teaching English to children between 6 and 14 years old
  • carrying out plumbing work in the hotel and restaurant
  • sharing horticultural knowledge for the vegetable greenhouse

Please note that volunteering is only possible during the summer months due to the high-altitude location (4,200 meters), and that facilities are very basic.
