Intramuros Wandel tour

Intramuros is de Spaanse citadel gebouwd in 1571 en staat synoniem voor de hele stad Manilla tijdens de Spaanse bezetting. Het is de stille getuige geweest van alle gebeurtenissen tijdens de Spaanse koloniale overheersing, de Amerikaanse annexatie, de Japanse bezetting tot aan de vernietiging in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De historische tour vertelt het verhaal van de stad en de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen in de Filippijnen gedurende meer dan 400 jaar. Dit is een goede tour als je de algemene geschiedenis van Manilla en de Filippijnen wilt leren kennen.

Manila's Chinatown

Binondo staat bekend als 's werelds oudste en grootste georganiseerde Chinatown. Het gebied werd eerst ontwikkeld als een barrio voor de Chinese migranten die tijdens de Spaanse kolonisatieperiode in de Filippijnen een toevluchtsoord vonden voor de barre omstandigheden in China. Gedurende deze "foodtour" wordt het verhaal van de Chinese migranten verteld, hoe zij het gebied ontwikkelden tot de eerste zakenwijk van de stad en hoe hun cultuur langzaam samensmolt met de Filipijnse cultuur. Dit is als je het Chinoy-verhaal (Chinees-Filipino) wilt leren kennen.
