Humboldt University of Berlin

Humboldt University is the oldest university in Berlin, founded in 1810.

Until 1949, the university was called Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, after King Friedrich-Wilhelm III. Later, it was decided to name the university after the brothers Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt. Wilhelm von Humboldt initiated the founding of the university in 1809.

The university's main building has been located in the former palace on Unter den Linden boulevard since its founding. The university has produced many renowned scientists and philosophers and has connections with no fewer than twenty-nine Nobel Prize winners. All of these were students or faculty members of the university. In 2008/2009, more than 34,000 students were enrolled at the university.

Algemene informatie universiteit:

De Humboldt universiteit is de oudste universiteit van Berlijn en is opgericht in 1810.

Tot 1949 heette de universiteit Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, naar koning Friedrich-Wilhelm III. Later werd besloten de universiteit te vernoemen naar de broers Wilhelm en Alexander von Humboldt. Wilhelm von Humboldt nam in 1809 het initiatief tot de oprichting van de universiteit.

Het hoofdgebouw van de universiteit is sinds de oprichting al gevestigd in het voormalige paleis aan de boulevard Unter den Linden. De universiteit heeft veel bekende wetenschappers en filosofen voortgebracht en heeft maar liefst betrekkingen met negenentwintig Nobelprijswinnaars. Dit waren namelijk allemaal studenten of docenten van de universiteit. In 2008/2009 stonden meer meer dan 34000 studenten ingeschreven aan de universiteit.

Bijzonderheden:

De Humboldt University of Berlin ligt in de hoofdstad van Duitsland. In deze geweldige stad valt veel te beleven. In Berlijn zijn de kosten voor boodschappen, uitgaan etc. net iets lager dan in Nederland maar omdat je natuurlijk veel meer dingen doet dan normaal geef je waarschijnlijk wel wat meer geld uit dan in Nederland. Een kamer kun je krijgen door je in te schrijven voor een ‘Wohnheim’, hier zitten vooral internationale studenten. Of je kunt zelf op zoektocht gaan naar een kamer in een studentenhuis.
