Psychopathology is concerned with the forms, origins, development, and consequences of mental disorders. It studies how unusual or harmful patterns of thought, emotion, perception, and behavior arise, how they affect daily functioning, and how they can be understood in context.
The discipline covers a broad range of conditions. Each area has its own research questions, clinical traditions, and debates about causes, classification, treatment, and cultural interpretation.
