Traveling in and emigrating to Rwanda

  • Be sure to visit the Genocide Memorial Centre. This is a special memorial center in the capital Kigali for the victims of the Hutu-Tutsi genocide that took place in 1994.
  • Huye (formerly Butare) is a student town in Rwanda's southern province, with the largest ethnographic museum in the country.
  • Gisenyi, also called the paradise town of Rwanda. Located at the northern tip of Lake Kivu, this town has many Congolese influences because it is directly adjacent to the city of Goma. Gisenyi also has several beaches where you can book accommodation and watch the sun set over Congo and the reflecting lake.

Op 28 mei 2002 heeft de regering van Congo een klacht ingediend tegen de republiek van Rwanda, vanwege een grove schending van mensenrechten en internationaal humanitair recht aan de kant van Rwanda. De regering van Congo was van mening dat de schendingen het gevolg waren van een gewapende daad van agressie op het territoir van Congo, waardoor de soevereiniteit en territoriale integriteit van Congo geschonden werden. Rwanda had namelijk een Boeing 727 neergeschoten waardoor 40 burgers waren gedood. Verder had Rwanda zich schuldig gemaakt aan het vermoorden, verkrachten, kruizigen en het doorsnijden van kelen van 3,5 miljoen Congolesen. Kayaking on lake Kivu - Rwanda

Lake Kivu in west Rwanda is an amazing place to watch the sunset above the Congolese hills at the opposite site of the lake, or you can lay on the beach and swim in the water, but there are so many other fun activities to do there, like: Kayaking! I booked my kayaking afternoon with the company 'Kingfisher Journeys' for a friendly price. Completely loved the experience and I'm very happy that I managed to take a little video.
