Products & Services CV

Tandheelkundige zorg

  • Bocas Sanas werd in 2008 opgericht in Nederland met als doel om tandheelkundige zorg te verlenen in Maimón, gelegen in het noorden van de Dominicaanse republiek.
  • In deze plattelandsregio is toegang tot tandheelkundige zorg beperkt, zeker voor de armere bevolking. Kinderen kunnen hierdoor last krijgen van gebitsproblemen wat onder andere leidt tot verminderde concentratie, verzuim en lagere schoolprestaties. Dit verhindert de ontwikkeling van de kinderen en zo ook hun toekomstpersectief.
  • Bocas Sanas probeert de tandheelkundige zorg te verbeteren. Zo zet de organisaties zich onder andere in voor voorlichting over mondzorg, het uitdelen van tandenborstels en andere hulpmiddelen en het behandelen van gebitsproblemen.
  • Ook heeft de organisatie op verschillende scholen hygiënesystemen opgezet. Dit houdt in dat kinderen daar eenmaal per dag hun tanden poetsen in daarvoor gebouwde installaties. Dit bevordert het bewustzijn rondom mondhygiëne.

Steun de organisatie

  • Er zijn verschillende manieren waarop je de organisatie en haar doelen kunt steunen. Zo is het mogelijk om een donatie te maken en voor tandheelkundigen om je in te zetten als vrijwilliger.
  • Regelmatig gaat een groep van vrijwilligers een aantal weken naar de Dominicaanse Republiek om daar hun kennis in te zetten om de lokale bevolking te helpen. Zowel tandartsen, mondhygiënisten, assistenten als tolken zijn welkom om een bijdrage te komen leveren. 
  • Hierbij wordt een eigen bijdrage gevraagd voor onder andere de vlieg- en verblijfskosten.
