SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: duration limits of coverage

Duration minimum:
  • 5 days.
Duration maximum:
  • The coverage automatically renews every 28 days until you select an end-date or until 364 days have elapsed.
Renewal:
  • There's no limit to how many times you can renew it. Whenever you buy a new plan with a new start date, any illness or injury you have had before or at the start date will be deemed a pre-existing illness or injury during this new active insurance period.
Termination:
  • The insurance cover terminates on the last day of the period for which premium has been paid, or the moment of arrival upon your return to your home country, unless you have started a benefit period, or are eligible for home country coverage.

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: location and area limits of coverage

Areas:
  • Worldwide coverage outside the usual country of residence.
  • Optional coverage USA: if you have this add-on, you'll have the same coverage on trips to the US, as you do outside the US.
Home country:
  • After being abroad for 90 days, you retain your medical coverage for 30 days when you visit your home country (country of residence). 15 days if your home country is the U.S.
Location:
  • You can take out this insurance when your journey has already started.

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: nationality and age limits of coverage

Nationalities:
  • The insurance is intended for all nationalities.
Maximum age:
  • Coverage is no longer valid once you reach the age of 70.
Minimum age and children:
  • No cover for children younger than 15 days.
  • One child older than 14 days, but less than 10 years old, per adult, is included in the insurance without added cost. There is a maximum of 2 children per group (or family) that are included without added cost. Otherwise, regular base price (same as for ages 10-39).
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult on a group policy to be included without added cost. 

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: parts of the coverage

Activities coverage:
  • Standard coverage: for traveling, sports, studying, volunteering and (unpaid) internships.
  • Optional coverage: for adventure sports including scuba diving, skydiving, white water rafting and more.
  • Work coverage: there is no cover for accidents during work (although it may seem online otherwise) in the SafetyWing Nomad Insurance. The SafetyWing Remote Health insurance is an alternative but only for companies and remote teams.
Medical coverage:
  • The deductible for the insurance applies per period covered. Notable exclusions for pre-existing disease or injure and cancer treatment.
Personal accident coverage:
  • Coverage depends on type of dismemberment or the accidental death.
Personal liability coverage
  • Coverage is depending on type of liability.

  • Natural disaster — a new place to stay: Up to 100 USD a day for 5 days. No deductible
