Wat is comorbiditeit?

Comorbiditeit is het tegelijkertijd voorkomen van twee of meer aandoeningen of stoornissen bij één persoon. Vaak komt hierbij ook sociale en/of maatschappelijke problematiek.

Wat zijn de belangrijkste kenmerken van comorbiditeit?

  • Meerdere aandoeningen: Comorbiditeit verwijst naar de coëxistentie van twee of meer afzonderlijke diagnoses.
  • Verschillende types: Comorbiditeit kan optreden tussen aandoeningen binnen dezelfde categorie (bijv. twee angststoornissen) of tussen aandoeningen uit verschillende categorieën (bijv. een angststoornis en een depressie).
  • Onafhankelijke diagnoses: De comorbiede aandoeningen beïnvloeden elkaar niet per se direct, maar kunnen elkaar wel versterken of complexer maken.

Waarom is comorbiditeit belangrijk?

Comorbiditeit is een belangrijk aandachtspunt in de psychologie en psychiatrie. Het kan de diagnose, prognose en behandeling van aandoeningen complexer maken.

Wat is de praktische toepassing van comorbiditeit?

Comorbiditeit wordt in de praktijk op diverse manieren toegepast:

  • Diagnostiek: Bij het stellen van een diagnose is het belangrijk om te screenen op comorbiditeit. Dit kan leiden tot een completere en nauwkeurigere diagnose.
  • Behandeling: De behandeling van comorbiditeit vereist vaak een multidisciplinaire aanpak. Verschillende therapieën of medicijnen kunnen nodig zijn om alle symptomen te adresseren.
  • Prognose: Comorbiditeit kan de prognose van een aandoening beïnvloeden. De prognose kan slechter zijn bij patiënten met comorbiede aandoeningen.

Praktijkvoorbeeld

Een patiënt met een depressie kan ook last hebben van een angststoornis. De angstsymptomen kunnen de depressieklachten verergeren en vice versa. Dit maakt de behandeling complexer en vereist wellicht een combinatie van antidepressiva en angstremmende medicatie.

Kritische kanttekeningen

  • Complexiteit: Comorbiditeit kan de diagnose en behandeling van aandoeningen complexer maken.
  • Interacties: Er is nog veel onbekend over de interacties tussen comorbiede aandoeningen.
  • Stigma: Comorbiditeit kan leiden tot stigmatisering van patiënten.

Using and finding summaries, study notes en practice exams on JoHo WorldSupporter

There are several ways to navigate the large amount of summaries, study notes en practice exams on JoHo WorldSupporter.

  1. Starting Pages: for some fields of study and some university curricula editors have created (start) magazines where customised selections of summaries are put together to smoothen navigation. When you have found a magazine of your likings, add that page to your favorites so you can easily go to that starting point directly from your profile during future visits. Below you will find some start magazines per field of study
  2. Use the menu above every page to go to one of the main starting pages
  3. Tags & Taxonomy: gives you insight in the amount of summaries that are tagged by authors on specific subjects. This type of navigation can help find summaries that you could have missed when just using the search tools. Tags are organised per field of study and per study institution. Note: not all content is tagged thoroughly, so when this approach doesn't give the results you were looking for, please check the search tool as back up
  4. Follow authors or (study) organizations: by following individual users, authors and your study organizations you are likely to discover more relevant study materials.
  5. Search tool : 'quick & dirty'- not very elegant but the fastest way to find a specific summary of a book or study assistance with a specific course or subject. The search tool is also available at the bottom of most pages
