It has already been almost two weeks since my arrival in Beijing, and since I started to volunteer at Huiling Beijing, the day care center for people with light mental disabilities. httppublic://blog/dscn5508_0.jpgwww.huiling.org.cn/en/. It has been a very special experience for me to be working at Huiling. My first impression of this center was that it is a very happy place. It has a strong family atmosphere and I could see that the trainees really regard Huiling as their home. They enjoy the company of all the volunteers and workers a lot. The work that is done here at Huiling is very important, because it helps the trainees to stay active and enjoy life. Their activities include arts and crafts, dancing, singing, playing sports and organising musical performances. This week I will also visit two other projects supported by China Inside, together with Monique. At the end of my time as a volunteer here in China, I would like to produce a flyer for China Inside which gives an image of the different projects here and hopefully will inspire others to come and volunteer in China.
