Re: Invitation to attend the 11th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations and Conference in Vietnam 2014
Dear Sir/ Madam,
The thrice-sacred day of Vesak celebrating the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of Lord Gautama Buddha, is recognized by the United Nations through a resolution adopted at its General Assembly in 1999.
The first event was celebrated in United Nations Headquarters in New York in 2001. Subsequently, the celebration of United Nations Day of Vesak (UNDV) was held in Thailand from 2004 to 2007, 2009 to 2013, hosted by Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. In 2008, Vietnam played host for the first time at National Convention Center, Hanoi. The 11th Anniversary Celebration and International Buddhist Conference of United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 will be hosted by the National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS) for the second time in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam from 07 to 11 May 2014. We are expecting to welcome around 10,000 participants to this event, including Buddhist Supreme Patriarchs, 800 international official delegates, and 700 self-funded delegates.
The main Theme of the Celebration is Buddhist Perspective towards Achieving the UN Millennium Goals and the Sub-Theme are (i) Buddhist Response to Sustainable Development and Social Change, (ii) Buddhist Response to Global Warming and Environmental Protection, (iii) Buddhist Contributions to Healthy Living, (iv) Peace-building and Post-Conflict Recovery, (v) Buddhist Education and University Level Curriculum.
We take great pleasure in inviting you as a Speaker to attend the Celebrations of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014.
Trots om als WorldSupporter Smokey Tours te presenteren, the world should know about it.
