Travel & Move:
I've been to some South-East Asian countries and around Europe once, but it's still my own country that inspires me.
In 2011, I joined a photowalk in Smokey Mountain and got really inspired by the children I met and took photos of. Despite their circumstances (living in the slums/dumpsite) they still continue to smile, play and remain resilient. Thanks to that experience I'm now working with the same person who invited me to that photowalk.
Experience & Leisure:
I'm very against genuine leather, animal hyde, animal bones, etc being used as clothes, household goods, etc. I try to be an example to friends and families.
I avoid using plastic and insisted that we recycle at home. I avoid eating animal innards or animals that I believe shouldn't be on the menu. My mom and I also rescued 2 dogs and a cat.
Learn & Develop:
I have volunteered as a photographer for organizations such as Special Collection, Kythe, Asia-America Initiative, Photography with a Difference, Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, etc.
I sponsored an orphaned child when I was in High School for a year. NSTP (National Service Training Program) is a subject in every college in Manila taken for 2 semesters: the first semester my group and I put up a photo exhibit with bands and raised money to donate to Chosen Children Foundation where I sponsored a kid for a year when I was in High School, and for the 2nd semester we were sent out to take care of a group of children once a week. Same group of children every week - we developed modules and activities to do with them. This was in partnership with Gawad Kalinga, an NGO in the Philippines that builds houses for the less fortunate.
Help & Change:
I have volunteered as a photographer for organizations such as Special Collection, Kythe, Asia-America Initiative, Photography with a Difference, Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, etc.
I shaved my head to donate my hair for kids with cancer. I'm currently the volunteer coordinator for WorldActivity Philippines and the manager of Smokey Tours wherein we are in charge of volunteers who come into the Philippines and Smokey Tours offers tours that also aid another NGO. I sponsored an orphaned child when I was in High School for a year. I also helped clean up 2 beaches with a school organization called ER+GO. I organized 2 relief drives/fundraiser for typhoon tragedies in the Philippines and helped take care of the children brought to Manila from Tacloban because of Typhoon Haiyan. For my 21st Birthday I held a feeding event where my friends, family and I fed 50 street children, gave them loot bags, ice cream and played games with them.
Work & Initiate:
With WorldActivity Philippines I take care of volunteers who are helping others.
I also help the other organizations by assisting them with their websites, providing photos, and helping them with events. With Smokey Tours, I'm helping them become more sustainable as they continue showing others what the other side of Manila is like while aiding another NGO that feeds and provides medical mission for less fortunate children.
