April - June 2018 Exhibition of the Congolese painter Sapin Makengele
MBOKA’SIKA is the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands of the Congolese painter Sapin Makengele, also known as SAPINART. He has been influenced by the master of the Congolese popular paintings Cheri Cherin, of whom he learned the technique of oil on canvas in his atelier in Kinshasa. Sapin now lives and works in the Netherlands.
The exhibition will be opened on Monday 9 April, 4 pm at the African Studies Centre Leiden Wassenaarseweg 52, Bamboo lounge, third floor.
